International BV (SIBV), the franchisor of the SUBWAY®
system in the UK and Ireland, is a full member of the British
Franchise Association - the single regulatory body for franchising
in the UK. The British Franchise Association was established
in 1977 to promote franchise opportunities, and to develop
and improve franchising practice. The BFA also provides information
and education to individuals who are interested in becoming
a franchisee.

The International Franchise Association
SIBV
is also a full member of the International Franchise Association
(IFA), which is an organisation whose membership consists
of franchisors, franchisees and their suppliers. The IFA offers
franchise information to potential franchisees and ongoing
support to existing franchisors and franchisees.
IFA's Mission Statement: The mission of the International
Franchise Association, founded in 1960, is to enhance and
to safeguard the business environment for franchisees and
franchisors worldwide. IFA serves as a resource centre for
current and prospective franchisees and franchisors, the
media, and the government. IFA has been instrumental in
developing legislation that safeguards franchising from
abuse by fraudulent operators. The Association has testified
on behalf of programs that expand opportunities for women
and minorities in franchising.
